At Luz de Estrella we are all about creating a True Texas Wine Experience and it all starts with fine Texas wines! To make certain that your experience starts off on the right foot, we are offering 8 excellent wines, including 2 whites, a blush, a rose, and 4 outstanding reds.

 

Our wines have either zero residual sugar, or minimal residual sugar, and are either zero oaked, or slightly oaked. Our goal is to let our top quality Chihuahuan desert fruit speak for itself, with slight or no artificial amendments covering up the character and quality of our superior Texas and southeast New Mexico fruit.

 

You may order our outstanding wines by phone (432-729-3434) during regular business hours, and we'll ship them to you for the following retail prices plus a modest shipping and handling fee. There is a 10% discount for ordering by the case, including mixed cases.

 

2006 Chenin Blanc -$14.99

This dry white table wine is light-bodied, fruity, and semi-sweet with a well-balanced nutty finish and hints of green apple and lemon grass. The grapes harvested from the Texas Guadalupe Mountains make this wine an excellent choice on a toasty summer day! (Less than 1% sugar added.)

 

Big Bend Blanco - $15.99 - Patrick Johnson Proprietary Blend
This dry table wine is a delightfully rich, full bodied, "off dry" white wine. Its blend of Chardonnay and Chenin Blanc grapes creates an exquisitely smooth finish. All of the grapes are from the Chihuahuan Desert. A gorgeous white wine, smooth and full of character! (Less than .33% sugar added.)

 

2005 Riesling - $16.99 - Currently Sold Out

This wine is a true Riesling and is our sweetest wine, with no residual sugar added. This Riesling is pure fruit, is definitely not "steely", and is not syrupy-sweet. Fermentation was stopped and cooled at the perfect moment to create a light, well-balanced wine. An outstanding Riesling and definitely a must try! (100% pure fruit)

 

Big Bend Blush - $10.99

With a semi-sweet taste and distinct melon flavors, our Big Bend Blush has wonderful mouth appeal. A blend of Zinfandel and Chenin Blanc grapes creates a well-balanced wine that flows off the tongue in such a way that it excites almost every palate. The fruit is not overcome by sugar making it sophisticated enough for a full-bodied wine drinker! (Less than 3% sugar added)

 

Big Bend Red - $11.99

This red table wine starts sweet and finishes spicy. It is a blend of Zinfandel, Chenin Blanc, 2003 Cabernet Sauvignon, 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon, and Shiraz grapes from the Texas Davis and Guadalupe Mountains. A small amount of sugar was added to create a sweet, velvety blend with hints of clove and nutmeg. You must treat yourself to this very smooth red table wine!  (Less than 2% sugar added)

 

Big Bend Rose - $14.99

This Rose has a 70% full-bodied Cabernet Sauvignon from the Texas Guadalupe Mountains and 30% Blush from the Texas South Plains. Big Bend Rose has beautiful color and is a treat for the palate. This off dry wine has great tannin structure and full mouth appeal. A must try! (Less than 1% sugar added)

 

Rojo - $19.99 - A Linda Armstrong Proprietary Blend

An excellent blend of two Cabernets that will excite the palate. This wine has a fruit forward mouth appeal, a dry, full-bodied pomegranate finish, and is very mild and smooth, especially for a young red. This blend of Cabernets, one vine young, one vine old, compliment and absolutely complete one another. No sugar has been added, yet hints of rasberry, vanilla and cream give this exciting red sweetness! (100% pure fruit)

 

Merlot/ Cabernet Blend - $24.99 - A Linda Armstrong Proprietary/Specialty Blend

A spectacular blend of Merlot from the Texas South Plains and 45% fruit forward Cabernet from Tularosa, N.M. This wine is balanced, yet complex, with an extremely fruity nose and contains hints of cherry, blueberry, currant and raspberry with a developing dark chocolate and coffee bean finish. No residual sugar has been added, so the palate is welcomed with a dry, yet robust red wine devoid of artificial sweetness and is wonderful after decanting for at least 30 minutes. (100% pure fruit)

 

2003 Cabernet Sauvignon, Reserve - $49.99 - Sold Out

"Our Carnivore." This is an outstanding full-bodied red that is filled with tastes of chocolate, berry, and black cherry flavors. These flavors combine extremely well, and the wine has excellent tannin structure. It will become even more outstanding over time! This Cabernet is arguably the "BEST" Cabernet in the State of Texas (and elsewhere). It is the last full harvest from the Blue Mountain Vineyard in the Texas Davis Mountains. The vines from this wine were on their 25th leaf at harvest in 2003. Prepare yourself for an outstanding experience! (100% pure fruit)

 

2005 Cabernet Sauvignon, Reserve - $79.99

This enchanting wine is a very limited release of the final harvest from Blue Mountain Vineyards, grown in the Davis Mountains of Texas. It was oaked in both French and American barrels. This wine is truly special. There will only be 70 cases produced. This Cabernet is extremely smooth and great for the sophisticated palate. Will cellar for up to 25 years. (100% pure fruit)
 
The vast majority of our grapes have been grown in the Chihuahuan Desert region of Texas. All additional grapes were purchased from New Mexico. We strive to keep all of our wines from the same type of soil and climate, which the French call "terroir". We are very proud of our wines and they are all truly excellent!   
 
Our Vineyard is currently growing Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, Sauvignon Blanc, Viognier and Gwerztaminer. Our first crop was harvested in 2007. Our initial Estate wines should be available later in 2009.
